When We Save the Rainforest, We Save Ourselves

In honor of World Rainforest Day, we're launching the Rainforest Guardian Campaign to spotlight the Osa Peninsula's wonders and the urgent need for conservation.

The rainforest is not just a distant ecosystem—it’s the beating heart of our planet. It generates 20% of the world’s oxygen, absorbs massive amounts of CO₂, and provides freshwater to millions. Every tree, river, and animal plays a role in maintaining the balance of life—not just in the Osa Peninsula, but globally.

The Carate River Valley rainforest is under growing threat from proposed commercial development and the expansion of a traditional hard-wired electric grid—pressures that risk fragmenting critical wildlife corridors, disrupting fragile ecosystems, and permanently altering one of the world’s most biodiverse regions. At the same time, we continue to lose rainforest to illegal mining and climate change.

The Osa's ecosystems support:

  • Over 700 species of trees

  • 140 species of mammals, including jaguars and Baird’s tapirs

  • 400 species of birds, such as scarlet macaws and harpy eagles

  • 117 species of reptiles and amphibians

  • 6,000+ species of insects

Your Impact Starts Here

Your support directly contributes to:

  • Protecting vulnerable rainforest areas in the Carate River Valley

  • Supporting sustainable tourism and community education initiatives

  • Empowering Indigenous communities in their conservation efforts

  • Preserving habitats for endangered species like the Central American squirrel monkey and the Osa pulchra plant

Our goal is to raise $10,000 to bolster these initiatives. Every contribution, big or small, brings us closer to preserving this irreplaceable ecosystem. 100% of your contributions go to conserving the rainforest.
