Our Carate Community
The local community is at the heart of our mission,
where we strive to foster a harmonious relationship between natural ecosystems and human endeavors. By promoting sustainable economic opportunities, we ensure that conservation efforts provide tangible benefits to local residents. Our commitment extends to training and hiring within the community, ensuring that our work directly supports those who live here, creating a shared responsibility for preserving the environment while enhancing the well-being of our neighbors.
Environmental education is key
to shifting perceptions about the importance of rainforest preservation. Since our founding, we’ve reached hundreds of students annually and partnered with our local Carate community to implement sustainable practices. A key example is the Bamboo School in Carate, a remote area of the Osa Peninsula. Opened in May 2017, it’s the region’s first sustainable, net-zero-carbon school, equipped with essential facilities and a solar panel system.
