Lana Wedmore is a conservation and community leader in the Corcovado area. Over the years she’s been working tirelessly for the benefit of the community in areas such as infrastructure, culture, education, health, security, sustainable tourism and environment protection.
Lana is currently the president of the Chamber of Tourism of Corcovado, and the president of the Association for Integral Development of Corcovado. Lana is deeply involved in conservation projects, and the protection of endangered species as the sea turtle.
Lana, a well respected and successful businesswoman, owns one of the most celebrated eco-lodges in Costa Rica, Luna Lodge, which has been awarded the highest level in sustainable practices given by the Costa Rican government. The Luna Lodge model of sustainability has been mentioned in world renowned newspapers and magazines, such as the New York Times, USA Today, Travel and Leisure and Forbes Magazine.
In an interview regarding the White Hawk Foundation, Lana mentions: “I founded the non-profit White Hawk Foundation because there are 12 properties for sale between Corcovado National Park and the Carate river basin and if these properties go under development it will be devastating not only for the animals, but for the eco-systems as well. Our intent is to buy one property at a time and they range in price from $50,000 to $17,000,000.”
IT’S A SIMPLE TRUTH: We must save the rainforests to save ourselves, and The White Hawk Foundation is one where each individual can make a difference. In two years, contributions have ranged from $10 to $10,000, but we have raised our first $70,000 which enables us to buy our first property… we are on our way!
We invite you to join us- IT IS A SIMPLE DECISION- FOR IT IS A SIMPLE TRUTH!
